42PD6600 will not turn on (seems to switch to standby)

when it is turned on it seems to jump straight to standby and thats as far as it goes there are two clicks, one as the on button is pressed, the 2nd half a second later as the frontlight goes to red. any idea's what it is would be apreciated (click seems to come from the middle at the top of the back - on the main board?) Thanks guys...

connected hdmi cable but only have sound .followed instuction manual but stil nothing happens can anyone help...
