Controlling volume of earset (too loud)

The volume of my earset is too loud for my liking, even though the volume on the M12 is set at 1. How can it be adjusted so that I can reduce the volume more?...

The problem with the headset is sometime, not all the time, when I pickup a call, there appears to be no one at the other end. If I take the main box itself and tap/bang it on my desk, then the line opens and I can hear the caller. ...
